Week 14 Blog

From Learning the System to Contributing to It

This week felt different compared to my first few weeks at Globaly.io. Earlier, most of my time went into understanding workflows, learning the design system, and adapting to the product structure. Now, I feel more comfortable contributing to discussions, making design decisions, and understanding how different parts of the platform connect together.

While continuing work on the student profile module and refining previous flows, I started noticing how much my thinking process has changed over the past few weeks. In the beginning, I focused mostly on individual screens and visual decisions. Now, I naturally think more about user flows, system consistency, scalability, and how one decision can affect multiple stakeholders across the product.

One thing I appreciated this week was realizing how much collaboration influences product design. Feedback sessions, discussions with the senior designer, approvals, and even documentation all play a major role in shaping the final experience. Product design feels much less isolated to me now compared to when I first started.

I also reflected on personal growth outside of technical skills. I’ve become more comfortable receiving feedback, communicating design reasoning, working within constraints, and adapting to changing priorities. There’s still a lot I want to improve, but I can clearly see progress in the way I approach both design work and collaboration.

Key Learnings & Insights

  • Product design is deeply connected to systems and collaboration.
  • Confidence grows through consistent practice and feedback.
  • Good design decisions balance usability, business goals, and constraints.
  • Communication is just as important as visual design.
  • Growth often happens gradually and becomes visible only through reflection.
  • Application in Practice

This week, I continued refining ongoing modules while also participating more actively in discussions around workflows and design decisions. I found myself contributing with more confidence compared to earlier weeks.

    Reflection

Looking back at the past few weeks, I can see a clear shift in both my mindset and workflow. I still have areas I want to improve, especially around confidence and decision-making, but I feel much more comfortable navigating product discussions and structured design processes now.

More than anything, this experience helped me understand that product design is not only about creating interfaces. It’s about understanding users, collaborating with teams, solving problems thoughtfully, and continuously learning through feedback and iteration.

    Next Week Goals

    • Continue improving my product thinking and design communication.
    • Become more confident in presenting and defending design decisions.
    • Keep learning from senior designers and collaborative workflows.
    • Contribute more independently to larger product modules.
