Week 14 Blog

From Learning the System to Contributing to It This week felt different compared to my first few weeks at Globaly.io. Earlier, most of my time went into understanding workflows, learning the design system, and adapting to the product structure. Now, I feel more comfortable contributing to discussions, making design decisions, and understanding how different parts of the platform connect together. While continuing work on the student profile module and refining previous flows, I started noticing how much my thinking process has changed over the past few weeks. In the beginning, I focused mostly on individual screens and visual decisions. Now, I naturally think more about user flows, system consistency, scalability, and how one decision can affect multiple stakeholders across the product. One thing I appreciated this week was realizing how much collaboration influences product design. Feedback sessions, discussions with the senior designer, approvals, and even documentation all play a ...

Building the Student Profile Experience This week I started working on the student profile module in Globaly.io. After focusing on search flows and mobile interactions in previous weeks, this felt like a shift toward a more structured and personal part of the platform, where all student-related information comes together in one place. The student profile is not just a static page. It includes personal details, application status, activity history, and other important data points that different stakeholders rely on. Because of that, the main challenge was figuring out how to organize a large amount of information in a way that feels clear and easy to navigate. One thing I realized while working on this module is that profile design is really about hierarchy and clarity. Different types of information need different levels of visibility. Some data should be immediately visible, while other details should be placed in secondary sections to avoid overwhelming the user. I also started th...

Refining Mobile Search and Exploring the Next Module This week, I continued improving the mobile search flow for courses, institutions, and agents in Globaly.io. After the initial version, the focus shifted toward making the experience smoother and more usable on smaller screens, where even small design issues become more noticeable. While refining the flow, I paid closer attention to things like spacing, how filters are grouped, and how easily users can move between search results and refinement options. On mobile, every interaction needs to feel simple and direct, so I kept adjusting things to reduce any unnecessary friction. I also shared the updated mobile flow with the senior designer and got useful feedback. A few parts of the interaction, especially around filters and navigation, were simplified further after the discussion. Once I applied those changes, the flow felt more stable and closer to being ready for the next stage in the process. Later in the week, we also discussed...

Designing Within Smaller Constraints This week, I continued working on the search flow for courses, institutions, and agents in Globaly.io, but shifted focus toward the mobile experience. After working on the desktop version, adapting the same complexity to a smaller screen made me think differently about structure and prioritization. On mobile, space becomes a real constraint. What felt manageable on desktop suddenly needs to be simplified and reorganized. I had to rethink how filters are displayed, what appears first, and how users can still search and refine results without feeling overwhelmed on a smaller device. One important thing I realized is that mobile design forces clarity. You can’t rely on space to explain complexity, so every element needs to have a strong reason to exist. This made me more conscious of what truly matters in the search experience and what can be hidden or moved into secondary interactions. I also started thinking more about interaction patterns like co...

Designing Search Flows for a Large Platform This week, I started working on the search flow for courses, institutions, and agents in Globaly.io. Since the platform is quite large and supports different types of users, the search system includes many filters and options. While going through the flow, I realized how important it is to organize information properly so users can find what they need without feeling confused or overwhelmed. One thing I learned this week is that search design is not only about displaying results. It’s also about helping users narrow down choices in a simple and comfortable way. With so many filters involved, even small decisions about layout and hierarchy can affect how easy the experience feels. I also started understanding the importance of showing information gradually instead of putting every option on the screen at once. Some filters are useful only in specific situations, so revealing advanced options only when needed helps keep the interface cleaner ...
